YouTube is the largest streaming service by far in the U.S. At this time, the cause of the outage is unknown. Mashable reached out to Google for more information (YouTube is owned by Google), and we'll update this story if we receive more information.
For an hour, users were met with the message, "Something went wrong. Try again."
According to Downdetector, which tracks outages, as of 8:13 p.m. ET, more than 300,000 users reported issues on both the website and the app. Over 8,000 users also reported issues with YouTube TV, as of 8:29 p.m. ET. YouTube acknowledged the outage and said it was working to resolve the problem.
Feb 17 (Reuters) - YouTube said on Tuesday it has resolved an issue that briefly affected access to the video-sharing platform, after outage-tracking website Downdetector reported widespread global disruptions.
